Hi Mike,
I attache a snatch block to one of the fair leads at the bow and then run the pole down haul forward through the snatch block and onto the tack. It allows me to close down or open up the tack depending on how far down wind I’m going. It also allows me to quickly rerig for spinnaker flying when really down wind.

Just come across your blog. Congratulations on following your dreams.
I have just aquired an X332 (1997 vintage). I read in your blog that you used an asymetric for your round UK trip. I have a question. How did you connect the tack of the sail. I looked at some of your photos and can’t see any extra hardware fitted.

I enjoyed reading your blog just now.
You’re not wrong about the weather – however when the Sun is switched on the West Coast is a marvel!
I spent many days last year and wondered if I was in heaven sailing in the West in Kilrush, Aran, Clifden & Galway.

There are a good scatter of X-332s racing on the West Coast I’m surprised you didn’t seem to come across them.

Let me know when you are somewhere on the Scottish coastline that us land lubbers can pay you a visit.

Enjoy your inter island hopping – I am sure it will have some challenges, but hopefully it will be mostly pleasant.

Looks like you are having an awesome trip, good to see that Xiphias going strong and your out sailing her.

Hope you are enjoying the trip (it must be less stressful than racing)

I’m living up in the north of scotland in a wee town called Cromarty a bit north of Inverness.

It would be lovely to meet up if you have time when you are up north.
